A new free webinar taking place on 20th September will explore how green technology can help lower energy bills and move closer towards net-zero goals.  Against the backdrop of an increasingly turbulent global climate,  inaction, or even slow-moving steps are no longer a viable option for UK businesses when it comes to tackling the environmental and energy crisis.

Dr James Crosby-Wrigley, Head of Sustainability at Energy and Sustainability Consultancy Advantage Utilities, will host the 30 minute webinar on Wednesday 20th September at 14:00 BST, discussing the current energy market, its future outlook and forecasts in pricing, as well as solutions to improve on-site efficiency and on-site generation.

Dr Crosby-Wrigley holds a doctorate degree in Geochemistry, Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from the University of Cambridge and advises a range of companies that are looking to achieve net-zero, recommending how they can best manage their energy costs through sustainable energy solutions.

Commenting on the upcoming webinar, Dr Crosby-Wrigley said:“With energy costs being one of the most significant operational costs for businesses, it is no surprise that the rate of business insolvencies within England and Wales is at its highest level since 2009. Now more than ever, it’s important for businesses to fully understand the options available to  them, and  how green technology can help tackle the current energy and environmental crisis.”

The Met Office confirmed that June 2023 was the hottest June on record, with the heat bearing the fingerprint of climate change. The heatwave prompted the National Grid to resort to burning coal due to increased energy demand stemming from soaring air conditioning use by businesses.

July was also the world’s hottest month on record, causing blistering wildfires, droughts and other extreme weather events across the globe. Within the UK alone, half of UK businesses are already impacted by climate change which is set to increase operating costs and also destabilise supply chains, forcing changes to business models.

“Businesses across all sectors have an obligation to do the best they can for their customers, their employees and the planet as a whole,” continues Dr. Crosby-Wrigley.

“Reviewing their current energy practices and switching to greener energy solutions will not only provide economic and environmental benefits, but will help to elevate the reputation of the company too, leading to greater sales, retention and loyalty. In an ever-competitive economy, getting ahead through green tech could provide the edge many businesses are looking for.”
