MD Govier Electrical Engineering has marked its 15th anniversary, celebrating a decade and a half of work across commercial, industrial, domestic and specialist electrical projects in Milton Keynes and further afield in the UK.
The company was set up in 2011 by director Mark Govier, who brought over three decades of electrical engineering experience to the venture. Govier said fifteen years feels like a significant moment to stop and reflect, recalling that the business started with a notepad, a van, and a genuine desire to do good work for people, and adding that having many of those early clients still on board today means more to the team than anything else.
According to the firm, its early growth came from direct, face-to-face outreach rather than marketing spend — introducing the business to potential clients in person and letting completed work build its reputation. That approach is credited with cementing a long-running relationship with Costco Wholesale, which reportedly began with a single Milton Keynes warehouse and has since expanded to multiple UK sites.
The company says many clients have worked with Govier personally for longer than the business itself has existed, attributing this to consistency and reliability on site rather than contractual ties alone. Its current client base spans warehousing and distribution, commercial premises, industrial sites, retail units and local businesses.
Over the 15-year period, MD Govier has broadened its offer in line with changing technology, regulation and client demand. The business now covers:
- LED lighting upgrades and energy-efficient retrofits
- EV charger installation for commercial and industrial sites
- Solar PV and renewable energy integration
- Electrical inspection, testing and certification
- Emergency lighting and call-out response
- Data cabling and electrical distribution systems
- External electrical installations and maintenance
What was originally a founder-led operation has grown into a wider engineering and support team delivering projects nationally, though the company says its working standards have remained consistent throughout that expansion.
To mark the anniversary, MD Govier has also highlighted its sustainability commitments, saying it prioritises cost-effective, efficient and environmentally responsible energy solutions informed by regular energy reviews, and that it incorporates feedback from clients, staff, suppliers and industry sources into how it operates.
The firm remains headquartered in Milton Keynes, citing the city’s transport links and business culture as reasons for staying rooted there while taking on projects across the UK.
Looking ahead, the company says it plans further investment in skills, innovation and sustainable practice as it moves into its next 15 years. MD Govier’s Kelly Govier added that the anniversary reflects not just completed projects but the relationships built and the trust earned through consistent delivery.
