VCHRGD has appointed David Slate as Engineering and Technical Manager as the EV charging technology company continues its expansion following triple-digit year-on-year growth.

The appointment forms part of VCHRGD’s investment in the people, technology and services needed to support its next phase of development. Having reached profitability in 2026 and completed a growth funding round, the business is expanding its capabilities across connected charging hardware, software and support.

David brings more than 20 years’ experience across the electrical and renewable energy sectors, combining practical installation expertise with technical support, compliance and partner management.

His career includes electrical supervision of EV installations at OVO Energy, B2B technical support and partner enablement at Powerverse, and senior electrical supervision at Lunar Energy.

At VCHRGD, David will lead engineering and technical projects, including developments that extend beyond core charging functionality. He will also provide a clear technical point of contact for partners, helping connect practical installation requirements with the company’s product and service development.

For customers, electrical contractors and wholesalers, the appointment adds further experience to a business focused on making EV charging straightforward to install and support.

Phil McDermott, Executive Chairman at VCHRGD, said: “David will lead a number of projects across the business, including developments that go beyond the basics of EV charging. His experience across electrical installation, renewable energy and technical support will help us bring those projects forward as we continue to grow.

“He also understands the practical challenges our installers, wholesalers and technology partners face. As we develop our technology and services, David will provide a clear technical point of contact and help us strengthen the support behind those relationships.”

David added: “I’m looking forward to drawing on my experience across electrical installation, renewable energy and technical support to support a number of our exciting projects.

“Having worked as both an installer and a technical support specialist, I also know how much clear guidance and dependable support will matter as we continue to grow.”
