UK Power Networks substation fitters who put safety, teamwork and quality at the heart of everything they do have been crowned ‘Fitting Duo of the Year.’

Nick Terry and Neil Tillman who are based in Brixton picked up the honour at the company’s ’Living Our Values Awards’, recognising the high standards they have consistently delivered together on site.

The duo said winning the award was a proud moment.

Dartford local Nick, said: “We come to work every day focused on doing the job properly and safely, so to have that recognised is a great achievement.

“It was especially rewarding to share the award together because we know how much hard work goes into every job.”

Their success is built on trust, strong communication and looking out for each other, helping them tackle challenges safely and efficiently, even when conditions don’t go to plan.

Neil, who lives in Herne Bay, added: “We know each other’s strengths and trust each other. We work to the same high standards and always have each other’s backs.

“Having someone you trust alongside you makes a big difference when things get difficult,” while they work with high voltage electrical equipment.

Nick said: “We want everyone to go home safely at the end of the day. For us, working safely isn’t something extra, it’s simply part of doing the job properly.

While collecting the award was a career highlight, the pair said they are most proud of the reputation they have built together.

Neil said: “The award recognises the work we’ve put in over time. Knowing people have noticed the effort, teamwork and standards we bring to the job makes us incredibly proud.”
