Blackpool Sea Cadets have access to much-improved facilities after the local Travis Perkins branch at Blackpool South and six other local firms worked together to support the installation of a new shower and toilet block at their base in Bispham, on the Fylde coast.

Travis Perkins supplied plastering materials for the renovation after being approached by their customer, Evolution Construction Group, a construction company that creates better places for people to live across the North-West. Evolution donated the time of eight members of its team and equipment to install the new facilities, while Travis Perkins was one of several companies to donate building materials.

Kay Jackson, Chief Petty Officer of Blackpool Sea Cadets said: “We rely heavily on the generosity of local businesses, the local community, and the cadets and staff really appreciate any help we get.” Kay explained that it would make a big difference to young people in Blackpool.

The cadet group has a total of 45 members, aged 10-18 years old who hail from between South Shore to Over Wyre. The cadets also include 15 adult volunteers.

Shane Doyle, Account Sales Rep for Travis Perkins said: “It was a pleasure to be able to support the Blackpool Sea Cadets as they are such an important part of the community. Our business has a long and proud history of supporting the armed forces, and the cadets offer young people many opportunities and experiences that will help teach them important life skills.”
