Swedish-listed group Storskogen has acquired leading UK electronic parts and components manufacturer Darlington EMS Limited in a deal facilitated by financial and real estate advisory group BTG.
The group’s expert Deal Advisory team led by M&A specialist and Director Emma Jones provided corporate finance advice and supported the acquisition, which was completed on 2 April 2026.
Throughout the deal, BTG collaborated closely with legal experts Steve Jarman, Matthew Dootson and Chloe Santigo, from national law firm Clarke Willmott, and specialist accountant Steve Grindrod, Managing Partner of KBS Accounting LLP who have offices in Manchester, Cheshire and London and representations in other European jurisdictions.
An established supply chain partner to a number of industries including vehicle conversion and industrial control equipment, Stockport-based Darlington EMS specialises in wiring harnesses, printed circuit board assembly, and control panel design and build.
The deal will see Darlington EMS and its 70-strong team join Storskogen’s international group of 114 business units across 30 countries, strengthening its trusted partnerships with existing clients and providing growth opportunities in new markets. The management team, led by Managing Director, David Darlington, will continue to lead the business.
Storskogen, a Stockholm-based international group of businesses with around 10,500 employees, acquires and develops leading small and medium sized businesses across three key business areas of trade, industry and services. The acquisition forms part of the group’s continued strategic objective to broaden and strengthen its presence in markets outside of Sweden, with particular focus on the UK.
Emma Jones, Deal Advisory Director at BTG, said:
“Working closely with Clarke Willmott and KBS Accounting, we are pleased to have provided our end-to-end deal expertise and advice to deliver the sale of Darlington EMS to Storskogen. Not only is this a boost for industry in the North West, but also demonstrates the strong potential for international investment in UK manufacturing and engineering.
“Through the acquisition, we have been able to bring together the two companies to seize the opportunities they provide each other and set their trajectories towards sustainable growth and long-term success. We were delighted to collaborate closely with Steve, Matthew and Chloe along with Steve at KBS and put our collective expertise into action to deliver the deal quickly and seamlessly.
“UK industry is resilient and has plenty of potential for growth into the future and we expect to see more M&A activity in the sector to give manufacturing and engineering firms the boost they need to achieve growth. Being able to facilitate the investment in a leading company is a great example of the opportunities and we look forward to seeing the impact the deal has for both companies.”
Chris Pullen, Head of Storskogen UK, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Darlington EMS to Storskogen. The Company’s strong position in a niche market with significant barriers to entry makes it an excellent addition to our portfolio, and we see potential for collaboration with similar businesses in the Group.”
David Darlington, Managing Director of Darlington EMS, said:
“Joining Storskogen marks an exciting new chapter for Darlington EMS. Becoming part of an international group will offer our business new opportunities for growth, innovation and collaboration. We believe that Storskogen’s long-term perspective and broad network will not only strengthen our ability to serve our existing customers, but also open doors to new markets and partnerships.”
