Superscript the digital insurance broker has surveyed 500 tradespeople to identify their challenges and provide solutions for tradespeople looking for best practices to help serve their business (see survey results below).

Superscript’s survey revealed one of the biggest concerns for tradespeople is tool theft – over half of tradespeople (53 per cent) said replacing their tools if stolen would cost them over £2000.

Superscript is working with Checkatrade to support Amanda Martin’s bill to reduce tool theft and Superscript has introduced a tool theft cover to help ease the disruption theft has on tradespeople’s abilities to work and disruption to cash flow.

Another pressing issue tradespeople highlighted was the challenge of securing regular work with one in four (25 per cent) saying it is their biggest challenge. Superscript has identified one of the underutilised areas for securing business is working with landlords.

59 per cent of landlords Superscript surveyed said property maintenance and repairs are their biggest challenge.

Having a good relationship with a landlord can make all the difference in securing scheduled maintenance checks and ad hoc requests.

Isabella Meramo, SME New Business Assistant Lead at Superscript will be attending along with her colleagues on stand B826 said: “We’re making it easier for tradespeople to get the cover they need so they can focus on their most pressing matters – finding work and creating a steady cash flow. Having your tools stolen and being unable to work is the last thing tradespeople need.

At Superscript we’ve made the process of getting the right insurance simple and straightforward – by doing all the admin of finding the right combinations of covers for them.”
