Last week saw nine Derry Building Services’ trainees graduate from the B&K Academy at a ceremony held at St Georges Park, home of the Football Association’s National Football Centre.

Graduates, including three electrotechnical installers, were treated to an ‘Access All Areas’ tour on Thursday 26th October 2017 before being congratulated on their achievements, and presented with a certificate to mark the occasion, by Chris and Robert Kirkland.

Congratulations go to:

    1. Ben Beales – NVQ3 Heating and Ventilation Industrial and Commercial
    2. Sam Blewitt – NVQ3 Electrotecnical Installation
    3. Ryan Selby – NVQ3 Electrotecnical Installation
    4. Niall Watson – NVQ3 Electrotecnical Installation
    5. Dan Hollingsworth – NVQ3 Electrotecnical Installation
    6. Chloe Emmerson – NVQ3 Business Administration
    7. Stacey Harrison – NVQ3 Business Administration
    8. Zak Williams – HNC Mechanical Building Services
    9. Joanne Lacey – MSc Construction Law and Dispute Resolution

A further 18 trainees from within the B&K Group also graduated in subjects including Construction and the Built Environment, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, HR Management and Construction Law.

Apprentice Awards
The next day, Friday 27th October 2017, saw the 13th Apprentice and Long Service Awards.

Friends and family of the award winners gathered, along with those celebrating 10 and 25 years’ service to the company, to acknowledge the achievements of the six young men who would be named Apprentices of the Year in their respective fields.

Mr John Kirkland, Group chairman and Mr Jack Kirkland, Group director, attended the ceremony to bestow their congratulations on the winners and present the awards.

Stage 1 Electrical Apprentice of the Year
Jordan Brabbin

‘Jordan shows good understanding and is working very well in both the theory and practical aspects of the course.’ – Andy Alcock, Loughborough College

Stage 2 Electrical Apprentice of the Year
Nathan Wilson

‘Nathan’s assignment is one of the best I have seen for which he should be highly commended.’ – Andy Bellas, Lincoln College

Stage 3 Electrical Apprentice of the Year

Sam Kowalczyk

‘Sam has the right attitude, and the ability to back it up.’ – Dave Inger, Lincoln College

Stage 4 Electrical Apprentice of the Year

Daniel Hollingsworth

‘Daniel has worked towards his goal in a calm manner, he is confident and willing to listen and learn.’ – Daniel Clifford, JTL Training

Mechanical Apprentice of the Year

Also recognised at the ceremony were eight members of staff for their long service and commitment to the company.
