Recycle Week 2025 shines a light on how we can all give everyday items a second life. Running from 22-28 September under the theme “Rescue Me! Recycle”, the campaign highlights the importance of recycling materials we often overlook and reminds us of the powerful role innovation can play in creating a circular economy.
In the construction and civil engineering sectors, traditional water management systems and kerbing solutions have long relied on resource-heavy production materials such as concrete. While effective, these systems come with a significant environmental footprint, from energy-intensive production through to transportation and installation. By contrast, recycled and recyclable polymer materials are proving to be a more sustainable alternative.
Lightweight and modular in design, polymer-based systems reduce the need for heavy machinery on site, cutting fossil fuel use and associated emissions during installation. Their durability ensures longer performance lifespans, while their recyclability at end-of-life helps keep valuable materials in use for longer.
At Duraproducts, we are proud to be at the forefront of civil engineering product innovation and leading the way in sustainable practices. To date, our innovations have given new purpose to the equivalent of 109,200,000 recycled bottles, caps, closures and other sources – materials that might otherwise have ended up in landfill or the natural environment. By utilising recycled content in our product design, we not only reduce the environmental impact of infrastructure projects but also help create sustained demand for recycled polymers, supporting wider industry efforts to expand recycling capabilities.
This Recycle Week, we reaffirm our commitment to building smarter, safer, and more sustainable solutions that demonstrate the real potential of recycled materials in infrastructure.
