EDF Heat Pumps is launching its brand-new umbrella scheme HPIN Direct – to make heat pump installation accessible for thousands of installers across the UK on Thursday 4th September 2025.

In partnership with Daikin UK, HPIN Direct will remove the financial and administrative barriers for small business heat pump installers across the UK.

The UK needs to install 600,000 heat pumps by 2028 in the drive towards Net Zero. With a shortage of heat pump installers, this target has been seen by many as being almost impossible reach.

One of the big issues putting the brakes on growth is that many smaller installers are locked out of accessing the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) as they need to be MCS certified. However, MCS certification takes time and is costly, making it hard to justify especially for smaller installers.

Clayton Browne, Managing Director at EDF Heat Pumps said: “We often hear there are not enough installers for the demand in heat pumps. With HPIN Direct, we are changing this, opening the door so that we can get thousands more installers trained and installing heat pumps – it’s an exciting opportunity for the industry.”

HPIN Direct removes this barrier altogether, by empowering installers so they can install heat pumps in their local areas without becoming MCS certified themselves. HPIN Direct will provide training for local heat pump installers and give them access to Boiler Upgrade Scheme funding for projects, without the hassle of costly MCS certification, making heat pump installations accessible to many more installers across the UK.

With HPIN Direct, EDF Heat Pumps will take care of the design and commissioning of heat pump systems, as well as MCS certification and funding applications for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme – all with no monthly or annual subscription fees.

To make the process of designing, securing funding, installing and commissioning heat pumps as easy as possible, EDF Heat Pumps has partnered with one of the industry’s leading heat pump manufacturers, Daikin UK, to offer simple bundle pricing for the heat pump, cylinder and controls.

This unique offer means installers can price their jobs and get on with the install with HPIN Direct taking care of everything else. With no monthly subscription fees and simple bundle heat pump pricing, installers benefit from flexibility on job pricing, reduced admin and paperwork and freedom to win more work.

Iain Bevan, Residential New Business Director at Daikin UK said: “The demand for heat pump installers is growing ever more urgent – with the current shortage of installers holding back heat pump adoption in the UK market. So, it’s great news that HPIN Direct is changing the game. HPIN and Daikin UK will train and develop a network of local installers across the UK, so they can support their local communities and get more heat pumps into UK homes.”
