EIC and Ripple Join Forces for Suicide Prevention Awareness

The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is pleased to announce a partnership with Ripple Suicide Prevention to mark Suicide Prevention Awareness Month this September.
Suicide remains the leading cause of death among men under 50, and those working in the building and construction industry face a risk 3.7 times higher than the national average.
Stigma around mental health can be a silent killer, which is why the EIC and Ripple are working together to encourage open conversations and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health across the industry.
To mark Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the Electrical Industries Charity’s September Wellbeing Talk will be presented by Alice Hendy, founder of Ripple Suicide Prevention.
A powerful and compassionate speaker, Alice shares her lived experience with organisations across sectors. She addresses suicide prevention, workplace mental health, and the importance of removing stigma, delivering talks that inspire understanding and meaningful action. She will be joined by her colleague, Luke Haseldine, and members of the EIC Welfare Team for what promises to be a powerful and informative session.

Ripple Suicide Prevention is a charity founded by Alice Hendy MBE after she lost her brother Josh in November 2020 to suicide at 21 years old. Josh had been searching the internet for ways to take his own life. To ensure people searching for harmful content online receive help and support, Alice created Ripple: crisis intervention technology that intercepts searches related to self-harm and suicide, and directs individuals to free, 24/7 mental health services.
To date, Ripple technology protects close to 2 million people across more than 50 countries and territories and has intercepted more than 110,000 harmful searches. It is available free of charge to individuals, parents, educators, and charities worldwide.
Through Ripple For Business, the technology helps commercial and public-sector organisations protect their people from online harm. It provides proactive intervention at the moment of crisis, strengthening workplace mental health support and creating a safety net for employees, customers, and visitors.
The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is a national charity supporting anyone connected to the electrical and energy industry, including employees, employers and their families.
