The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is proud to announce the launch of a series of new training courses for 2025, including Sexual Harassment Training, Baby Loss Awareness Training, Managing Workplace Stress, Menopause Awareness Training, Addiction Training, and Suicide First Aid.

These courses have been developed in response to emerging trends identified through the cases we support. Each course is designed to address key challenges currently facing the electrical and energy industries. Delivered by our experienced welfare team and expert partners, the training aims to equip industry members with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in today’s evolving workplace.

Course Overviews:
Sexual Harassment Training
Recent changes to UK sexual harassment legislation place a legal duty on employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment. This duty covers harassment from other employees and also from third parties, such as customers and clients.

Our training courses help employers understand their duty to protect employees, prevent harassment, and allow individuals to feel better equipped to respond to and report harassment.

Our Sexual Harassment Training is designed to teach the following:

• Understand the legal definition of harassment under UK law
• Recognise the different forms of harassment
• Consider the impact that harassment has on individuals within the workplace
• Understand how any concerns relating to harassment will be dealt with in the workplace and what support is available

Baby Loss Awareness Training
Sadly, the death of a baby is not a rare event. 50% of adults in the UK said that they, or someone they know, had experienced at least one form of pregnancy or baby loss (Source: YouGov).

These newly designed courses are designed to equip employers, HR professionals and line managers with the tools and understanding needed to provide compassionate and effective support during such challenging times. These courses cover the following:

• Explore the unique challenges that dads face after baby loss
• Help workplaces better understand and support employees who have experienced the heartbreak of baby loss
• Learn to handle challenging conversations with sensitivity
• Foster an environment where employees feel valued and supported

Managing Workplace Stress
We understand the impact that workplace stress can have on individuals and teams. In 2023 to 2024, 33.7 million working days were lost due to work-related ill health and non-fatal workplace injuries. A supportive environment goes beyond offering time off, today’s employees need workplaces that actively promote physical, mental, financial and professional wellbeing, especially when stress levels are high.

Our Managing Workplace Stress Training teaches you to:

• Understand stress and burn out
• Spot early warning signs
• Understand triggers and implement healthy coping strategies
• Build a supportive, mentally healthy workplace culture

Menopause Awareness Training
Menopausal women are the fastest-growing demographic in the workforce, and now more than ever it’s important to speak openly about menopause at work.

According to Fourth, 90% of workplaces have no formal support for women experiencing menopause. We think this needs to change.

Our Menopause Awareness Training seeks to:

• Encourage open conversations and break down misconceptions
• Help employees manage symptoms while still feeling valued
• Improve employee well-being and productivity
• Enhance inclusivity in the workplace

Addiction Training
45% of all UK adults are affected by addiction or dependency – either personally or through someone close to them that is. Addiction is a complex and deeply personal issue that impacts millions of people and can affect every aspect of a person’s wellbeing — mental, physical, and social.

By fostering a culture of openness and understanding, organisations can create a safe environment where employees feel empowered to speak up and seek help without fear of judgement or consequences.

Our Addiction Training teaches you:

• How addiction develops and affects individuals
• Identifying early indicators in colleagues and employees
• Strategies to support recovery and prevent addiction
• Encouraging open conversations and reducing stigma

Suicide First Aid
According to Mind, one in five people experience suicidal thoughts. At EIC, we are committed to breaking the stigma around suicide and equipping individuals with the skills to support those in crisis.

Our Suicide First Aid training courses provide essential knowledge and practical skills to help you step in with confidence and compassion, with focus on the following:

• Understanding the foundations of suicide prevention
• Strategic approaches to suicide intervention
• Practical skills for supporting individuals
• Implementing intervention and ensuring safety in suicide prevention

With these new courses, the EIC continues to lead the way in supporting the wellbeing of the electrical and energy industries. By addressing sensitive but critical issues head-on, we aim to foster safer, more supportive, and more inclusive workplaces for all.

Ensure your employees are effectively supported in the workplace and book a training course with the EIC today.
