On 10 September 2026, the Electrical Industries Charity will celebrate 121 years with a 13 kilometre walk through London, bringing together supporters from across the electrical and energy sector to shine a spotlight on mental health and wellbeing.

The walk celebrates more than a century of the Charity’s work supporting individuals and families working in the electrical and energy industries through life’s challenges. It also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of community, connection, and early support in a sector that continues to face significant mental health challenges.

Starting at King’s Cross St Pancras at 10:00am and finishing at London Bridge at approximately 4:00pm, participants will walk together through the capital to raise awareness of the positive impact that simple, everyday actions can have on mental wellbeing.

For 121 years, the Electrical Industries Charity has stood alongside people working across the industry, helping them navigate financial hardship, mental health concerns, family difficulties, and other life-changing circumstances. The anniversary walk reflects the Charity’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that no one in the industry has to face these challenges alone.

The event also highlights the need for continued conversations around mental health. By walking side by side, participants are sending the message that support is available, help can be found, and there is always hope. Every positive action, no matter how small, contributes to better mental wellbeing.

Walking for Mental Health

Earlier this year, the Electrical Industries Charity challenged the industry to walk a collective 10 million steps during the month of May, with participants achieving an impressive 13.9 million steps. This challenge served as an important reminder that small steps can make a massive difference to day-to-day mental wellbeing, such as getting outside and getting fresh air.

Walking is widely recognised as one of the most accessible forms of physical activity, offering benefits that extend far beyond physical health. Regular walking can help improve mood, reduce stress, boost energy levels, and promote a greater sense of calm. The increased oxygen flow and improved circulation associated with physical activity can also help reduce fatigue, enhance concentration, and support overall mental resilience.
