The Electrical Industry Awards are sponsored by

Category Sponsors:

The awards were supported by main sponsor LUCKINSLive, with category sponsors WISKA and Surge Protection Devices.

Entries were assessed by an independent panel of industry experts:

  • Stephen Melton, Managing Director, NAPIT*
  • Darren Crannis, Technical Manager, ECA
  • Dan Woods, ECS Standards & Development Manager, JIB
  • Paul Collins, Technical Director, NICEIC
  • Dan Griffiths, Technical Operations Manager, LIA

Products and services

The first six awards recognised products and services that break the mould. The judges were looking for originality and impact, and for products that make a real difference.

Commercial/Industrial Product of the Year

Winner: EvoEnergy – Chronos O&M Software

Chronos is an operations and maintenance platform. It brings complex performance data, predictive modelling, field activity and client reporting together in one place. The judges said Chronos “combines innovation with clear, proven impact”, helping to identify faults sooner and support better operational decisions.

Residential/Domestic Product of the Year

Winner: Electrismo– Time Saving Adapters

Electrismo’s adapters tackle a problem every electrician will recognise: damaged or stripped lugs on metal back boxes. Rather than replacing a serviceable back box, the adapters restore the lug and guide the fixing screw into position. They also reduce the risk of cables becoming trapped or damaged.

The judges called it “an excellent example of innovation focused on solving a real industry problem, delivering tangible benefits in safety, efficiency and ease of installation without adding complexity to the job.”

Highly Commended: Enkin – Kinetic Collection. These battery-free wall switches generate their own energy when pressed, so lighting can be added or changed without rewiring.

Lighting Product of the Year

Winner: CU Phosco – Brighton Heritage Lantern

CU Phosco has re-engineered the Brighton Heritage Lantern, a design dating back to the 1980s, to meet modern performance and technical requirements. It has done this while carefully preserving the lantern’s original look.

The judges said: “It is particularly impressive to see an established product thoughtfully redeveloped rather than simply replaced, demonstrating how innovation can respect a product’s heritage while delivering the performance expected of modern lighting technology.”

Highly Commended: Zumtobel – Amphibia. Its transparent body delivers uplight to overcome the “tunnel effect” common with non-corrosive luminaires.

Safety Product of the Year

Winner: PlugShield Ltd – PlugShield

New for 2026, this category recognises products that tackle a genuine safety risk in a practical way. PlugShield addresses an often-overlooked one: fires that start at the plug.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, PlugShield is a fire-activated intumescent sleeve that wraps around an everyday plug. At around 180°C it expands, helping to contain flames and buy time for smoke alarms to do their job. It fits in seconds, with no tools, adhesives or electrical modification.

Trade Tool of the Year (including Test & Measurement)

Winner: NAPIT – FastTest

FastTest is a certification and reporting platform built for electrical contractors. It supports more than 25 certificate types and brings certification, reporting, cloud access and electrical design together.

AI-powered tools can generate board and circuit data from a photo, cutting manual data entry. Direct integration with Trimble ProDesign creates a connected workflow from initial design to final certification.

Training Resource/Provider of the Year

Winner: NAPIT – NAPIT Training

NAPIT Training combines classroom courses at locations across the UK with flexible online learning. Its courses run from core competencies and inspection and testing to EV charging and renewables.

The judges praised this blended approach: “For a hands-on industry such as ours, that balance between theoretical understanding and practical competence is particularly important. NAPIT’s approach recognises that effective training is not simply about delivering information, but about giving learners the confidence and experience to apply their skills in the workplace.”

Highly Commended: JTL – LEDA platform, recognised by the judges for the second year running.

Projects and installations

These two awards went to UK projects completed in the last 12 months. The judges looked for innovation and sustainable, energy-saving technology, delivered to brief and to budget.

Renewable Installation of the Year

Winner: Metcor Electrical – Boldon Retail and Leisure Park EV Charging Hub

At Boldon Retail and Leisure Park in Tyne and Wear, Metcor Electrical took an electrically blank site and built a complete EV charging hub for Raw Charging. The project included a new 1,000kVA substation feeding 24 bays, offering destination, rapid and ultra-rapid charging.

The team battled persistent groundwater throughout. The site sits below the water table, and excavations flooded from beneath as they worked. Going beyond the brief, Metcor also installed the infrastructure for future bay-reservation technology.

The judges said they were “very impressed with the engineering challenges overcome with this project.”

Highly Commended: EvoEnergy – Principality Stadium Solar PV, Cardiff. This is the largest solar PV system ever installed on a UK stadium. Every panel was lifted 60 metres to the roof by a crane parked on the pitch, within a two-week window.

Electrical Project of the Year

Winner: EvoEnergy – Aldi Bardon Distribution Centre Rooftop Solar PV

At Aldi’s new Bardon Distribution Centre in Leicestershire, described as Britain’s largest supermarket warehouse, EvoEnergy delivered an 8MW rooftop solar installation. Its nearly 19,000 panels make it one of the largest single rooftop PV systems in the UK.

With grid capacity severely limited, the team engineered a bespoke control system. It lets the array run safely alongside diesel generators, without battery storage, across the site’s private 11kV network, responding in under a second.

The judges said: “The sheer size, scale, complexity and quality of this project make this the standout winner.”

Highly Commended: Thorn Lighting – Powerleague Nottingham Arnold LED Floodlighting Upgrade. Working to a 15-day supply deadline, Thorn helped bring community football back to north-east Nottingham on schedule, while cutting energy use by around half.

Contracting and wholesaling

The final five awards celebrated businesses showing strong performance, sustained growth and a clear commitment to driving the industry forward.

Wholesaler of the Year

Winner: Segen

Sponsored by WISKA, this award recognises outstanding customer support, business performance and investment in people. Segen got ahead of the new Electrotechnical Assessment Specification requirements, which came into effect on 1 October 2026. It set up its own academy so customers can complete the renewable courses they now need.

The judges said they were “very impressed with Segen’s commitment” to helping customers meet the new requirements.

Highly Commended: TEP Electrical Distributors, last year’s winner, once again recognised by the judges.

Contractor of the Year – Staff development (inc. apprenticeships)

Winner: Darke & Taylor

Sponsored by Surge Protection Devices, this award recognises employers who invest in training, career progression and skills. Apprenticeships have been at the heart of Darke & Taylor for more than 50 years. Over 500 school leavers have started their careers there, and more than a quarter of today’s workforce is on an apprenticeship programme.

Three current board directors began as Darke & Taylor apprentices. This year the company opened Elevate Building Services Training, its own purpose-built training centre. Its learning runs from health and safety to wellbeing, and even financial education delivered with NatWest for apprentices receiving their first pay packet.

Highly Commended: AC Electrical Services

Contractor of the Year – Community involvement

Winner: C&B Electrical Contractors Ltd

C&B was recognised for its local impact. By deliberately choosing local suppliers and subcontractors, it helps the whole local economy grow. It also supports youth sport, including Bletchley Boxing Club, and has raised significant funds for Milton Keynes University Hospital Charity.

The judges said supporting youth sport is key to driving the right social behaviours in young people, providing discipline and focus.

Highly Commended: JR Revill, for its fundraising through local sport, wide staff engagement and community solar panel installations at grassroots level.

Contractor of the Year (Turnover under £5 Million)

Winner: C&B Electrical Contractors Ltd

C&B made it a double, standing out for its work in critical and life-safety environments, particularly hospitals and healthcare facilities. Its expertise covers complex NHS installations, operating theatres and medical locations, backed by investment in staff competence and a patient-first approach.

The judges said C&B’s combination of technical capability, dedication to safety and meaningful community impact makes it “a worthy winner.”

Highly Commended: Elec Side Ltd

Contractor of the Year (Turnover over £5 Million)

Winner: Laser Electrical Services

The judges said this category was extremely close. Laser Electrical Services showed excellence across every major judging criterion, with clear, measurable evidence of business success, workforce development, customer satisfaction and social value.

In the judges’ words, Laser’s submission presented “the most complete picture of what it means to be an outstanding electrical contractor in today’s industry, combining commercial success with people, purpose and long-term sustainability.”

Highly Commended: EvoEnergy, which the judges said set the benchmark for technical innovation and renewable energy delivery.

Congratulations to all our finalists!
