Opportunity to drive the world-famous Goodwood Motor Circuit at the end of a day’s rallying

The UK’s growing army of EV owners is already helping drive down air pollution and so limit the damage to children, particularly in poorer, urban areas most exposed to fossil fuel fumes. Now they have the opportunity to have fun, meet like-minded folk and directly help children in need of a helping hand by signing up for a one-day EV rally in aid of the charity Buttle UK.

The event on Thursday October 26 starts at the beautiful Dunstan Hall Hotel in Norwich and ends at the world-famous Goodwood Motor Circuit. There is a chance for some laps around the track before ending the day with a dinner at the Goodwood Hotel. Details of the route through Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, along with stops and activities, will be provided for those joining the rally on the day.

The event is being organised by AnnexusEV in support of the children’s charity Buttle UK, who have been helping children and young people living in crisis for 70 years.

Application rates for the charity’s Chances for Children grants has soared during the pandemic and cost of living crisis. The rally will therefore be helping to fund more of these grants during what is a particularly challenging time for struggling families.

The event also aims to raise awareness of charging infrastructure and will take in a stop to rally partner GRIDSERVE’s Electric Forecourt in Braintree and Electric Super Hub at Pease Pottage. GRIDSERVE Car Leasing are provided additional electric cars to give more drivers the experience of an EV.

Drone footage of the event, including parade laps around Goodwood will be filmed and broadcast by media partner EV Cafe. The day will end with a dinner and auction in aid of Buttle UK at Goodwood Hotel where participants and leading figures from the EV industry can meet and share insights.

Jonny Duggan, CEO of AnnexusEV said:

“Our event in partnership with Buttle UK gives EV enthusiasts the opportunity of a lifetime, travelling across the country together and finishing the rally at the world-renowned Goodwood Motor Circuit.

“Our EV community is forever growing, and we want to use the togetherness and supportive nature of our industry to raise funds for this fantastic charity and cause.”

Joseph Howes, CEO of Buttle UK said:

“The cost-of-living crisis has plunged a worrying number of children into poverty, and made it harder for those already on low incomes. At a time when child poverty is rife, this rally and our partnership with AnnexusEV is a fantastic way to raise awareness of one of the most prominent issues of today.

“We are encouraging as many people as possible to come together in what will be a thrilling event, and raise funds to help end child poverty.”

Paul Brant, GRIDSERVE Electric Forecourt Director said:

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Chances for Children EV Rally, driving towards a better future for children. With the electric vehicles provided and visits at GRIDSERVE chargers, we hope all the drivers taking part will see how easy the switch to electric is with our charging network. The more drivers who make the switch will lead to cleaner air and a positive impact on moving the needle on climate change. Through our shared commitment, we accelerate positive change, empowering both our planet and children.”
