GTEC Training, part of United Infrastructure Group, has been approved for funding to deliver a range of industry-recognised training courses across Lincolnshire, following a successful application through the Midlands Net Zero Hub’s Regional Skills Pilot Scheme.

The clean energy skills funding will provide subsidised training opportunities as part of a wider plan to build a highly skilled and diverse domestic clean energy workforce. This will help to meet the demands of Clean Power 2030 and beyond. It will support the delivery of nine high-demand technical utilities and renewables training courses, helping to upskill the local workforce, support green growth, and address skills shortages across the energy, utilities, and construction sectors.

The training opportunities available to learners at various locations in North and North East Lincolnshire and include:

  • Solar Thermal Installation Training Course – 12 funded places (18-20 March and 13-15 May)
  • Ground Source Heat Pump Training Course – 30 funded places (20-21 April, 22-23 April and 11-12 May)
  • EV Charge Point Installation Course – 30 funded places (30 April-1 May, 7-8 May and 1-2 June)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Course – 36 funded places (27-29 April, 27-29 May and 10-12 June)
  • Low Temperature Heating Systems Course – 30 funded places (16-17 March, 1-2 June and 4-5 June)
  • WRAS Water Regulations Course – 30 funded places (14 April, 24 April and 3 June)

  • SHEA Gas Course – 30 funded places (dates to be confirmed)

The courses will be delivered locally through GTEC Training’s established training infrastructure, ensuring Lincolnshire-based learners can access high-quality, discounted skills training within the region.

This announcement comes at an important time as UK businesses prepare for the transition to low-carbon and net-zero technologies, increasing regulatory requirements, and the growing demand for qualified installers and renewable energy specialists.

Sam Graham, Head of Operations at GTEC Training, said: “We are delighted to have received approval for every course we applied for through this regional skills pilot. This funding allows us to directly support Lincolnshire’s workforce with practical, job-ready skills that align with net zero goals and the future needs of local employers.

“It’s no secret that there’s a growing shortage of skilled tradespeople in the UK, and we hope our courses can help plug that gap. The net zero economy is growing three times faster than the overall economy, so competent tradespeople and skills on the ground are needed more than ever, with the clean energy workforce expected to double by 2030.”

These funded courses are suitable for installers, engineers, electricians, and those looking to retrain or upskill, while also supporting regional priorities around sustainability, energy efficiency, and infrastructure resilience.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to eligibility criteria specific to the funding scheme.
