Emre Yilmaz, of Gas-Elec Group with the head office team

Private investor Emre Yilmaz has acquired Gas-Elec Group, a nationwide property safety and compliance provider that has been serving landlords, homeowners, letting agents and property professionals across the UK for almost 30 years.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, secures the future of the Suffolk-headquartered business, safeguarding 75 jobs and preventing the company from entering administration following a period of financial difficulty.

Founded in 1996, Gas-Elec Group pioneered the UK’s first combined gas and electrical safety inspection carried out by a single engineer in one visit. Today, the business provides a comprehensive range of property compliance services including gas safety inspections, electrical safety services, boiler servicing and installations, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), legionella risk assessments, PAT testing, smoke alarm installations and homebuyer reports.

Gas-Elec Group operates nationally and has built a strong reputation within the residential property sector, supporting landlords, letting agents, property managers and homeowners with increasingly complex compliance requirements.

The acquisition forms part of Mr. Yilmaz’s wider strategy of investing in established UK service businesses with strong foundations and significant growth potential.

Emre Yilmaz said: “Gas-Elec Group is exactly the type of business I look for when investing. It has an outstanding reputation, a loyal customer base, a highly skilled team and a long track record of delivering essential services to the property sector.

“When the opportunity arose, it quickly became clear that this was a business worth saving. The company employs talented people, serves thousands of customers nationwide and has built a trusted brand over nearly three decades.

“Without investment, the business faced a very uncertain future. By completing this acquisition, we have secured 75 jobs, protected a respected national brand and created a platform for future growth.

“My focus now is on supporting the existing management team, investing in operational improvements and building on the strong foundations already in place. I can see significant opportunities for growth both within Gas-Elec and across the wider group.”

Gas-Elec Group has already begun collaborating with fellow group company Harvey Electricals, based in Darlington, creating opportunities to strengthen service delivery and unlock operational synergies across the portfolio.

The business now joins Ferro Property Services Ltd, Mr. Yilmaz’s growing group of complementary companies, which includes Harvey Electricals, LED Power, PASSfm, and a portfolio of property development interests. The long-term vision is to create a fully integrated property services group capable of delivering a comprehensive range of solutions through a single trusted provider.

Kate Papworth, operations manager at Gas-Elec Group, said: “This acquisition marks a hugely positive turning point for Gas-Elec Group. The past year has presented significant challenges, but Emre’s investment has secured the future of the business, protected jobs and given our team renewed confidence.

“We have a fantastic workforce, a loyal customer base and a strong reputation within the industry built over nearly 30 years. Our people have remained committed throughout a difficult period and this investment provides the stability and platform we need to move forward with confidence.

“We’re excited to become part of a wider group and can already see opportunities to strengthen our offering, share expertise and create additional value for customers. We look forward to working closely with Emre and the wider team as we begin this exciting new chapter.”

Gas-Elec Group’s existing management team will remain in place and continue to play a central role in the company’s future development, ensuring continuity for customers while supporting ambitious growth plans.

The acquisition reflects growing demand for professional compliance services as regulatory requirements continue to evolve across the residential property market. Landlords, agents and homeowners are increasingly seeking trusted partners capable of managing multiple compliance requirements through a single provider.

This latest acquisition further strengthens Mr. Yilmaz’s reputation for backing established UK businesses and working closely with management teams to unlock growth while preserving the culture, expertise and customer relationships that have driven their success.

Further investment announcements are expected as the group continues its expansion strategy.
