Glamox, a global leader in lighting, has launched Luxo Align, a range of free-standing and pendant designer office lights that combine Scandinavian minimalist design with adjustable, personalisable light levels and colours to suit any mood or task. The stylish office light received the Best Industrial Design award at the IDC.25 Awards in Ålesund, Norway. The environmentally friendly lights use recycled aluminium, and the free-standing versions feature a specially developed sensor for presence detection and daylight harvesting.

The Luxo Align family is crafted for contemporary office settings. The collection features a free-standing single-arm model suitable for 1-2 desks and a double-arm model for 2-4 desks. Light output is easily adjustable via built-in controls on the pole or remotely through Bluetooth with the Casambi app. The pendant version uses an IR switch for individual light control. The luminaires are matte powder-coated and available in white, grey, or black.

Award Winner – Best Industrial Design

Before its official launch, Luxo Align received the Best Industrial Design award at the IDC.25 Awards, organised by Innovation, Design & Collaboration (IDC) Norway.

“The winner of Industrial Design of the Year, Luxo Align by Glamox, sets a new standard for how industrial design can meet complex needs – elegantly, efficiently and with an eye to the future. It stands out for combining aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability to create an excellent product for work environments of the future,” said Knut Bang, Head of the Jury, Design and Architecture Norway.

“Its sleek Scandinavian design combines high performance with flexible use and smart technology. The user-centric approach is highlighted as a key factor, where adaptability and energy-efficient control provide both comfort and environmental benefits for users. The choice of materials reflects a conscious environmental profile, and its construction ensures long life and easy maintenance,” added Bang.

The luminaire’s LEDs provide an energy-efficient 144 lm/w, while an innovative reflector design provides comfortable light with good distribution, upwards (Ca. 80% or 70%) and downwards (Ca. 20% or 30%), eliminating the need for ceiling lights. A built-in sensor allowing presence detection and daylight harvesting further supports energy efficiency by providing light when and where it’s needed.

“We have combined light and build quality with a timeless, minimalist Scandinavian design,” said Hans Bleken Rud, Industrial Designer at Glamox. “Align is also designed for sustainability. We used circular economy design principles, making it highly service-friendly so that parts can easily be replaced or disassembled for recycling. Furthermore, we use around 75% of post-recycled aluminium in the pole and head.”

Users will be able to personalise their light by dimming it and selecting the light temperature that’s best for them. In addition, Align’s flexibility and minimalist design make it suitable for modern office environments and layouts. This is important given that the luminaire could last 40 years, while offices are normally refurbished every 10-15 years.

Luxo Align is now available across Europe.
