A Great Yarmouth business is supporting its local hospital in running an innovative wellbeing initiative for its staff!

Hughes Electrical, with a branch on Mill Road, has donated five smoothie makers to the James Paget University Hospital which will be used as part of a health, wellbeing and fitness event later in September. This will include information on exercise, mental health, relaxation as well as healthy lifestyles and eating.

The Hospital now has 18 ‘Wellbeing Champions’ – existing staff who volunteer some of their time to support colleagues with the aim of improving physical and mental health which in turn can enhance patient care.

Mitchell Reed, one of the Wellbeing Champions, said; “We’re holding the event close to national fitness day to highlight some of the help and activities available for our staff and we approached Hughes to see if they could support us. They generously donated the smoothie makers which will be put to good use to make some healthy drinks for our staff to try on the day.”

Isobel LeGrice, Organisational Development Manager, said; “We’d like to thank Hughes for their support as we know smoothies will be popular with our staff. We’re working to promote both physical and mental wellbeing to help our teams and the day will showcase some of the things available.”

Said Declan Woods from Hughes Electrical, “We have worked with the James Paget before so were more than happy to get involved with its latest initiative designed to promote health and wellbeing among staff members.

“As a company that has been operating in the area for decades, we see ourselves as being at the heart of the community so are delighted to help with local projects whenever we can.”
