InstaVolt commits to a CHAdeMO at every one of its 1,200+ sites as used EV market grows

InstaVolt, the UK’s most trusted, and largest, Ultra Rapid charging network, has confirmed that CHAdeMO charging will remain a permanent feature across its network, with at least one of the connectors included at every one of its 900 existing sites and 300 new sites currently in development.
The commitment comes during Used EV Week, as buyers weigh up older electric vehicles including early Nissan Leaf models that rely on CHAdeMO for rapid charging. While vehicle manufacturers have moved to CCS for new models, InstaVolt says thousands of drivers still depend on CHAdeMO every day for commuting, business travel and longer journeys.
Other networks are going the other way. Many have stopped installing new CHAdeMO connectors and are instead decommissioning them at existing sites rather than maintaining them. InstaVolt’s position is the opposite: CHAdeMO stays, and it stays everywhere.

For used EV buyers, the message is simple: a CHAdeMO compatible vehicle bought will still have somewhere to charge tomorrow. InstaVolt’s app allows drivers to check connector type and live availability before they travel, removing the guesswork that has made charging a source of anxiety for owners of older EVs.
As the UK’s EV parc ages and used electric vehicles become a mainstream purchase, InstaVolt’s stance positions charging infrastructure as a driver of confidence in the used market, not a barrier to it.
