New and Old Sponsors Supporting WIT 23 Tradeswomen’s Event This Year

Regular partners and loyal sponsors are returning again to support WIT 23, the only event for all skilled tradeswomen in UK, this summer, is also attracting new support from the plumbing and electrical industries.
WIT 23, which is on 4th July, returns to last year’s great venue at London Met.
“It’s great to welcome back old friends and new supporters of WIT this summer.
In the last 10 years the percentage of women on the tools has gone up from 0.3 per cent to 1 per cent, clearly this is not enough to meet consumer demand – a third of householders have said they would prefer to use tradeswomen and another third would be ‘happy to use’ tradeswomen, while almost a quarter of women have said that they would ‘seriously consider’ going into skilled trades ‘if they had their time again’.
Skilled tradeswomen could be the answer to the skills gap! Let’s do what we can to encourage them in and then to stay!
WIT is the only event anywhere by and for all tradeswomen. It celebrates us and what we bring to the industry and is completely free for all tradeswomen and trainees thanks to the generous support of our sponsors,” said Mica May – Stopcocks Group, organisers of WIT Events.
WIT was stared in 2017 as an event for women plumbers to help overcome the isolation tradeswomen experience (often not meeting any other tradeswomen EXCEPT for at this event!) but has grown into an event for all skilled tradeswomen and trainees. It remains the only event where tradeswomen are the focus, the speakers, where issues affecting tradeswomen are recognised and solutions to the underrepresentation of women in skilled trades are discussed.
With almost a quarter of women interested in working in skilled trades, as opposed to just 11 per cent of the general population, it is possible that women could be the answer to the skills gap and that focussing on this half of the population could make the industry into the aspirational and attractive sector it deserves to be.
The WIT event is free to all tradeswomen and female trainees. Speakers include Hattie Hasan MBE, transatlantic rower Sally Kettle and tradeswomen who present themselves on the day, lunch is free and all tradeswomen and trainees are entered to win one of the many excellent raffle prizes.
“I would never have the successful business I now run if I hadn’t attended WIT in 2018 and met Hattie and Mica,” said Jiku Kiguma – iFundi Home Maintenance.

Sponsors and supporters are invited to attend the roundtable discussions and find out more about tradeswomens’ experiences, perspective and the solutions they offer the industry.
Returning sponsors include Vaillant, Monument Tools, Williams Trade Only Plumbing and Mark Vitow, while new sponsors include Aalberts/Pegler, Stopcor, Checkatrade and Fergus, with others old and new.
“It was a fabulous day I’ll try my best to come along this year with Mark Vitow,” said Andy Cam.
