Shenton Group Invests in Future Talent with Launch of Apprenticeship Programme

Shenton Group has launched its first apprenticeship programme, creating new opportunities for aspiring engineers to develop the skills, qualifications, and experience needed to build successful careers within the engineering sector.
The launch follows one of the most significant investments in the company’s 40-year history, which saw Shenton Group more than double its operational footprint at its Andover headquarters. The expansion has created additional capacity for future growth and laid the foundations for the development of a future Centre of Technical Excellence and enhanced training facilities.
The first apprenticeship pathway is an Engineering Maintenance Technician (Level 3) Apprenticeship, combining practical workplace experience with formal training to support the next generation of engineering professionals.
According to the National Engineering Policy Centre’s Engineers 2030 report, the UK engineering sector requires more than 173,000 new workers annually through to 2030, while nearly 20% of current engineers are approaching retirement age. The report highlights the important role engineers will play in sustainable growth, technological development, and environmental regeneration in the years ahead.
Recognising the importance of developing future talent, Shenton Group is investing in apprenticeship opportunities, workplace learning, and long-term skills development as part of its wider commitment to supporting the industry’s future workforce.

The apprenticeship programme will provide successful applicants with the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, gain recognised qualifications, and develop practical electrical and mechanical skills while supporting critical power systems across the UK.
It also forms part of a wider commitment to future talent development, supported by the company’s plans for a Centre of Technical Excellence and enhanced training facilities at its expanded Andover headquarters.
Applications for the inaugural intake are now open, with successful candidates based primarily at Shenton House in Andover, Hampshire.
