Surge Protection Devices to surge up Mount Snowden
Posted by: electime 9th June 2026
Surge Protection Devices Ltd is preparing to swap office desks and electrical systems for hiking boots and mountain trails as a team of eight employees takes on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon on 11th July 2026, in aid of ANDYSMANCLUB, which facilitates groups where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their issues in a non judgmental environment through shared experiences. Groups run nationwide every Monday 7pm except bank holidays and are completely volunteer-led with no charge to any man.
The challenge will see the group attempt the ascent of Wales’ highest mountain, standing at 1,085 metres above sea level, in a fundraising effort that reflects both the team spirit and determination that defines the company. While Surge Protection Devices Ltd is best known for delivering specialist surge and lightning protection solutions across the UK, this summer the focus turns from protecting infrastructure to supporting a worthwhile cause through endurance, teamwork, and community fundraising.
The eight-person team is made up of colleagues from different areas of the business, all united by the shared ambition of completing one of the UK’s most iconic climbs while raising as much money as possible along the way. For several participants, the Snowdon challenge will be their first experience tackling a mountain of this scale, making the event as much a personal achievement as a collective one.
Training has already begun, with team members balancing preparation around busy work schedules. Weekend hikes, fitness sessions, and endurance walks have become part of the build-up as the group prepares for the physical demands of the climb. Although Snowdon attracts thousands of walkers every year, the mountain is still regarded as a demanding challenge, with steep paths, unpredictable weather conditions, and long ascents testing even experienced hikers.
For the team at Surge Protection Devices Ltd, however, the challenge is about far more than simply reaching the summit. It represents an opportunity to come together outside the workplace, strengthen team bonds, and support a cause that is close to their hearts. The company has long valued collaboration and reliability within its day-to-day operations, and those same values are now driving the group forward as they prepare for July’s challenge.
Events such as this also highlight the growing importance businesses place on community involvement and charitable initiatives. Across many industries, companies are increasingly recognising the positive impact that fundraising events can have — not only for the charities involved but also for employee wellbeing, morale, and teamwork. The Snowdon challenge is a perfect example of colleagues stepping outside their comfort zones to achieve something meaningful together.
With the date fast approaching, excitement is continuing to build around the company. Support has already started coming in from friends, family members, customers, and industry partners, all eager to encourage the team as they prepare for the climb. Every donation received will help motivate the group as they take on the demanding route to the summit.
Although the challenge will undoubtedly test the team both physically and mentally, the participants are embracing the opportunity with enthusiasm and determination. Reaching the top of Snowdon will mark the culmination of months of preparation, commitment, and fundraising efforts — as well as a memorable achievement for everyone involved.
Most importantly, the challenge serves as a reminder of what can be accomplished when people work together towards a common goal. Whether in business or fundraising, teamwork remains at the heart of success, and the team from Surge Protection Devices Ltd hopes their efforts will inspire others to support charitable causes and take on challenges of their own.
