Job title: Site Operations Director

Qualified as an electrician via the apprenticeship route: 1986

How best to qualify?

“Apprentices need to make sure they ask also questions during the interview process. People looking to qualify through the apprenticeship scheme should ask questions such as:

  • How do you provide a suitable work environment to help me develop the skills I need to become a qualified electrician?
  • How closely do you work with local training bodies and colleges to ensure the development of apprentices?
  • What mentoring programme do you have in place?

“Don’t be worried about asking these types of questions – businesses with established apprenticeship programmes will value the interest.

“Once you know the business will be a good fit with your career aspirations, it is down to hard work, dedication, and never being afraid to ask questions if you are unsure.

“The apprenticeship route can be challenging but it is also very rewarding.”
