With just two weeks to go until WIT 26, excitement is building behind the scenes as organisers put the finishing touches on what has become one of the UK’s most anticipated events for tradeswomen.

From ordering food and packing goody bags to gathering an ever-growing collection of raffle prizes, preparations are well underway for the annual event, which will take place on Friday 3 July back in The Great Hall, London Met University, London.

But while the practical arrangements are coming together, organisers say the real magic of WIT happens when tradeswomen walk through the doors and discover they are no longer alone.

Every year, women arrive having never met another tradeswoman. Many work in male-dominated environments where they are the only woman on the tools, often spending years without connecting with others who share their experiences.

By the end of the day, those same women leave with new friends, new contacts and a renewed sense of belonging.

Founder Hattie Hasan, who was awarded an MBE for her work supporting tradeswomen, says

“One of the most powerful things about WIT is watching women realise they’re not the only one.

“We still meet tradeswomen every year who have never met another woman working in the trades. They arrive feeling nervous and unsure of what to expect, and by the end of the event they’re swapping numbers, making plans and finding their people.

“Of course, we all love the food, the goody bags and the incredible raffle prizes, but what keeps women coming back is the connection. The friendships that start at WIT often continue long after the event has finished.”

Now in its ninth year, WIT continues to bring together tradeswomen from across the UK for a day of networking, sharing, support and celebration.

As organisers count down the final two weeks, anticipation is growing among attendees, many of whom return year after year to reconnect with friends they first met at the event.

Free tickets for tradeswomen have nearly gone (male allies are very welcome to attend too). Preparations are gathering pace and WIT 26 promises another unforgettable day of community, inspiration and solidarity for women working across the skilled trades.Tickets available here https://WIT26.eventbrite.co.uk
