Universal Skills Launch Solar PV and Energy Storage Courses
Posted by: electime 8th June 2022
Universal Skills is excited to announce the launch of a new Solar PV and Electrical Energy Storage Course as part of a continued effort to offer an industry recognised renewable energy training provision in a sector which continues to see rapid growth.
Renewables currently account for 39.3 per cent of the UK’s total energy production and continue to play an important role in the country’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and move away from the use of fossil fuels. The government has already made significant investment into renewable energy, with more than £285 million invested this year alone.
Changes in consumer habits, rising energy costs and increased cash incentives, have also helped to spark demand for domestic solar panel and battery storage installations. With this in mind, companies have sought to up-skill their workforces to cater to this rapidly growing sector.
Candidates who up-skill in Solar PV or Energy Storage through Universal Skills, will learn everything required to successfully design, install, test and maintain these renewable solutions, and receive an industry recognised qualification in the process. The solar panels and energy storage units themselves, will be housed within the company’s Wakefield training centre in a new purpose built area, specifically designed for renewables training.
Dan Taylor, General Manager of Universal Skills comments:
“We are incredibly pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to a new and sustainable future with our Solar PV and Energy Storage courses. With the general cost of solar panels falling and the introduction of the Smart Export Guarantee, 0 per cent VAT, and EC04 Grants, solar power has become a lot more accessible to consumers.”
“Utility companies are also beginning to offer schemes which pay homeowners to store excess renewable energy through battery storage units, which again, offers increased incentive for people to get these installed at their properties.”
“Our training in these areas will help to fill a gap in the current demand for installers, both enabling us to up-skill individuals and companies who wish to expand into the renewables sector.”
The Solar PV Installation Course and Energy Storage Course add to Universal Skills growing list of course offerings, which include general Gas and Electrical training, Smart Metering Apprenticeships and the increasingly popular Electric Vehicle (EV) charging course.
