The World’s first road-based energy recovery system is set to launch to the UK market to help drive the Net Zero agenda, following an introductory event taking place in Leeds in January 2024.

Developed by social impact brand, ROUUTE, over the last five-years, the ‘E:GEN™’ is a new and revolutionary source of sustainable energy that comprises of an impressive, patented road energy recovery system, which successfully captures and stores energy generated by vehicles as they drive over the road surface.

Able to harness the power of vehicles to create clean energy, ROUUTE’s solution comprises of a road-based system and the E:GEN. The road-based system, described as speedbump, captures compression energy generated by vehicles as they drive over the road surface. The E:GEN then cleverly converts this energy into electricity which can either be used instantly, stored for later use or redistributed.

The World’s first road energy recovery solution boasts an incredibly high efficiency rating compared to other sources of sustainable energy. Enabling organisations to access an abundant amount of sustainable energy from an untapped source, with the latest tests showcasing the potential to generate between 450Wh – 850Wh per HGV (4-6 axels) and 150Wh – 300Wh per car (weighing 3 Tonnes). Please note: these figures are based on data gathered from a series of testing with different variables.

Following the success of its first commercial pilot, the system is set to be rolled out across a variety of businesses in the UK that have been eagerly waiting its launch.

Taking place virtually on the 11th January 2024, the E:GEN™ pre-launch event will enable attendees to gain full insight into how the energy recovery technology works and the significant role it can play in driving the net zero agenda. Stakeholders will also have the opportunity to organise a visit to see the E:GEN™ in the ground at its commercial pilot site.

Antony Edmondson-Bennett, Co-Founder and CEO of ROUUTE, added: “Over the last five years, the ROUUTE team and I have worked incredibly hard to develop the World’s very first road-based energy recovery system and are very proud to be officially unveiling it to the early adopters and individuals who have supported us along our journey at our pre-launch event in January.

Not only is this an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the commercial viability of the E:GEN, but to also demonstrate its ability to generate sustainable and distributable energy which will help drive the Net Zero agenda.

We feel optimistic that stakeholders will see the commercial, environmental and sustainable benefits of the E:GEN, helping drive investor interest on an international scale…Watch this space.”

Headquartered in London, ROUUTE is committed to powering change by helping businesses, organisations and cities reach net zero using the World’s first integrated road-based energy harvesting system.
