Solivus, a pioneer in lightweight commercial solar solutions, is celebrating a remarkable double win after securing two prestigious sustainability awards, reinforcing its reputation as an innovator driving the decarbonisation of the built environment.

At the 2025 RISE Energy Awards, held at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 6 November, Solivus was named ‘Renewable Energy Company of the Year’. The inaugural event, organised by The Sustainable Times, celebrates the UK’s most promising individuals and companies leading the transition to a sustainable future. Judges praised Solivus for its breakthrough lightweight solar technology for commercial buildings and its measurable impact on reducing carbon emissions across the built environment.

Further cementing its reputation as a sustainable leader, Solivus founder and CEO Jo Parker-Swift received the ‘Lucy Aitchison Women in Energy Award’ at the 14th annual Solar & Storage Awards, held on 23 September 2025 at The Vox, Birmingham. The award honours women driving change in the energy transition and was presented in recognition of Parker-Swift’s leadership in making renewable energy more accessible and for empowering women across the energy sector.

This latest recognition marks a milestone year for Solivus as it continues in its mission to decarbonise the built environment – the world’s biggest contributor to carbon emissions – through cutting-edge lightweight solar designed to overcome commercial sector challenges.

Recent Solivus projects – such as Tesco’s Watford Extra store and Farnborough Airport – demonstrate how its breakthrough solar system enables commercial clients to significantly reduce grid reliance and carbon emissions even where rooftop load constraints exist.

“This recognition means a great deal to us, especially after the hard work our team has invested this past year to achieve such significant success,” says Jo Parker-Swift, founder and CEO of Solivus. “We are incredibly proud of our contributions towards the new energy future and our role in supporting so many major businesses across the UK to cut carbon, improve energy resilience and drive meaningful progress towards Net Zero.”

Notably, this development takes place amid ongoing debate concerning the optimal strategy for solar energy generation – whether through large-scale solar farms or rooftop installations – as the UK advances its commitment to achieving 70GW of solar capacity by 2035.

Talking of which, Jo adds: “As we look to 2026, it is my hope that, as a nation, we finally start to take stock of the enormous solar potential of the UK’s unused commercial roof spaces. Take, for example, our car parks. By our estimates utilising available commercial rooftop space alone could generate approximately 117 TWh of electricity annually – enough to power around 30 million homes. That’s more than the number of houses we currently have in the UK and it could be achieved with minimal disruption to existing infrastructure.

“It’s time we finally start to seize the commercial rooftop opportunity in terms of maximising capacity and delivering the needs of rapid, efficient decarbonisation at scale.”
