New data from the UK’s leading job management software , Tradify, has shown the UK trade sector is booming, with trade businesses reporting year-on-year revenue growing between 5-8x% faster than the average UK small business in 2026.

The new data was collected from a sample of more than 3,271 UK trade businesses using Tradify’s job management software platform, between 1 June 2024 and 31 May 2026. HVAC & refrigeration (£428,529) was identified as the highest-earning trade sector, followed by property maintenance (£345,392) and electrical & AV (£283,176). Overall, the findings highlight a strong and growing trade industry, with several sectors achieving substantial revenue growth year-on-year.

Recent statistics from the ‘Sage SME Pulse’ show that revenue for 350,000 UK small businesses rose just 3% in 2025. The small trade businesses working with Tradify have defied these slower growth rates, with several sectors expanding between 5x and 8x faster than the average SME growth rate.

Carpentry & renovations are leading the way with year-on-year revenue growth of +25%, followed by electrical and AV businesses (+19%), landscaping and lawns (+18%), HVAC and refrigeration (+17%), and plumbing and gas (+16%). This reflects the outstanding performance and resilience of the UK’s highly skilled trade professionals, despite the subdued wider economic outlook.

Britain’s trades are working smarter, not longer

Data from Tradify’s job management platform – used by UK trade businesses to create and send quotes, organise teams and schedules, communicate with customers, calculate profit margins, and manage cash flow – suggests the sector is increasingly embracing digital operations. Faster quoting, more professional customer communications, and simple follow-up tools such as text reminders are helping to keep jobs moving through the pipeline, reducing delays and improving quote acceptance rates.

In fact, UK trade businesses are using technology to quote faster and convert an average of 82% of quotes into paid jobs. Electrical & AV and plumbing & gas were the strongest-performing sectors for converting quotes into jobs. Both sectors achieved an 86%-win rate, which is a level of sales performance many industries would struggle to match. HVAC & refrigeration and property maintenance followed closely at 85%, while carpentry & renovations (78%) and landscaping & lawns (73%) trailed behind, suggesting more competitive markets or longer customer decision-making cycles.

In addition, Britain’s booming trades capped off an impressive year of growth by reclaiming their weekends and achieving a work life balance. Rather than spending evenings and weekends buried in paperwork, 90% of administrative work is now completed during the working week across most trade businesses using Tradify.

Most trade sectors complete their administrative work during the working week, with 93% of electrical & AV, plumbing & gas, and property maintenance admin all taking place during the working week. HVAC & refrigeration and carpentry & renovations sit closely behind at 92%, while landscaping & lawns stands out as the least weekday-focused sector at 76%, suggesting a greater proportion of admin work is carried out during evenings or weekends.
