Following an independent audit by The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), leading manufacturer of electrical wiring devices, MK Electric, has achieved recertification for its testing laboratory in Essex.

This recertification represents yet another confirmation of the rigorous testing which goes into each MK Electric product, and a further reason why installers can confidently rely on the brand for unmatched quality.

The recertification process (ISO/IEC 17025:2005) involved an audit of MK Electric’s testing facility, consisting of documentation reviews and the witnessing of tests and calibration processes by independent specialists.

UKAS is the UK’s national accreditation body, “responsible for determining, in the public interest, the technical competence and integrity of organisations such as those offering testing, calibration and certification services”.

The product test centre was opened by His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent in November 1982 and achieved its initial accreditation in 1986. The lab offers MK Electric the ability to cover around 50 electro-technical standards for a wide variety of electrical wiring products. The laboratory now has 15 fully computerised test machines, each capable of testing and recording data from up to three products at one time, ranging from 20A to 160A.

Matt Mato, global quality leader at MK Electric by Honeywell, said: “Maintaining our UKAS accreditation ensures that our test reports are recognised internationally. It allows us, as a business, to self-certify many of our products because it proves that we are competent enough to correctly apply the requirements of the test standards, whilst also acting with integrity and independence.

“We have always strived to offer products that are superior in terms of quality, safety and reliability. And in our centenary year, we are reinforcing this commitment to offer customers the best possible products on the market.”
